With the global spread of COVID-19, much of the world is scrambling for protection and peace of mind. It's a scary time, bringing up feelings of fear, scarcity, and uncertainty.
We are at unprecedented times as we sit back and watch the infected numbers and death tolls rise daily. How much longer will this last? How can we best protect ourselves and our loved ones?
According to the WHO, social distancing is the single most effective strategy for eliminating the virus. We need to stay home, to allow the virus to die off and not continue spreading. Makes sense, right?
Facemasks have become a measure of protection, safety, and peace of mind over the past few months especially and becoming increasingly popular.
The use of facemasks is on the rise and caused a major shortage worldwide. In some countries, like China, facemasks are mandatory when leaving the house, but in other countries, they aren't advised.
We dug into some data from the World Health Organization for further detail and clarification. Here's what they said about wearing facemasks for the prevention of germs.
- If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected 2019-nCoV infection.
- Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.
- Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
- If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.
For those needing masks, we were able to secure some through our certified network of manufacturers overseas. We, like most, have limited quantities available and are trying to get them to those that need them most.
The biggest problem right now is that factories simply cannot keep up with global demand causing major inflation in the cost of masks. We are actively working with our manufacturers to try and keep costs down, while still offering the fastest shipping available.
If you or anybody you know can make reusable masks, that would be ideal as these disposable masks cannot be reused.
We now offer both individual mask orders as well as large quantities up to 500K. You can purchase them here.
Children's masks are also available in various quantity options, you can find those here.
If you're looking for a way to support our brave medical professionals at this time, consider donating masks to your local hospitals or caregivers as they are all in dire need.
We will be using the proceeds to purchase masks for hospitals and caregivers needing donations.
